Tool control is where we specialise. Tool engraving helps ensure your tools remain yours, so never again can you be questioned as to if a tool belongs to you. Laser engraving and laser etching also assists when assigning tools to specific kits. Kits can be designed for specific people and tasks, engraving/etching the tool assists in returning the tool back to the correct kit.
In a previous article, we have highlighted 5 interesting facts about laser engraving and laser etching, which include the processes being hugely popular way for businesses to develop brand awareness.
What are the Differences Between the Two Processes?
Although laser etching is quicker, laser engraving is more long-lasting. This is because etching uses less energy than vaporising, which is used in the engraving process . Deep laser engraving may need many laser passes and, as a result, more time.
The holes produced by engraving, on the other hand, are more resistant to wear than the higher markings created by etching. In fact, laser etching elevation can be as high as 80 microns, while laser engraving depth can be as low as 500 microns.
When it comes to making high-contrast marks, laser etching stands out. Laser engraving produces solely black markings, but etching produces both black and white marks. As a result, high-contrast engravings are frequently created by combining both engraving with etching.
Unless you want a high level of abrasion resistance, etching is preferable than engraving.
